Have you taught your children to eat fish? Not yet? Well, you better start now before it gets too late!

All of us know that eating fish brings a lot of healthy benefits – evidence after evidence is piling up to support this claim. And not teaching your children to develop a taste for this wonderful food from the seas is a grave injustice, if you ask me!

A wonderful way to develop your children’s taste for fish is by setting an example. Young children basically imitate what their parents do so it would be a great advantage if you yourself eat fish.

What? You don’t eat fish, too? You hate the “fishy” taste? Well, admittedly, fish doesn’t taste like chicken. But it doesn’t have to taste “fishy” either. Here are some things you need to know about fish to help you and your children develop a taste for it and live a long, healthy life ahead:

Choose the freshest fish. If you are put off by the fishy taste, buy the freshest fish you can find and serve it as soon as you can. For your information, fresh fish seldom taste “fishy”.

Learn some new recipes. Why not buy yourself a cookbook and try out some exciting new recipes? Before you know it, you’ll find several that your family will surely enjoy!

Work your way up. If you are put off by the strong fish flavor in omega 3 rich fish such as salmon, mackerel, sardines and herring, why not try some milder tasting fish first? Start with fish like grouper and sea bass and gradually work your way up. It’ll be an easy and fun way to get started!

Introducing fish to younger children is undoubtedly one of the easiest ways to get them started on the way to good health. I know that for a fact. I started giving our children fish oil on a spoon when they were about 6 months old. Before long, they started chewing the capsules on their own. Now that they’re older, they prefer eating fish to almost any other meat!

However, don’t worry even if your older children have already established their food preferences. They may have developed a liking for all the wrong kinds of foods but you can still get them to eat fish - if you’re tough enough to do so!

Try serving fish at the dinner table for at least two times a week. Prepare nothing else during those days. I tell you, they’ll eat it when they get hungry enough!

Teaching your kids to eat fish is not a cruel thing to do. On the contrary, it’s one of the best things you can do for them. They’ll surely thank you for it when they get older!

Are you being bothered by arthritis pain? Well, it can be a real pain in the neck, I tell you! But thankfully, there is now an effective and all-natural relief for this debilitating condition – in the form of omega 3 fish oil supplements!

Omega 3 fish oil supplements have been proven effective time and again in preventing arthritis pains. In fact, I have personally witnessed, and experienced, just how great this natural relief can be!

I can still remember the very first time I heard about fish oil health benefits. My friend’s mother had been a victim of arthritis for years. She always seemed to have terrible pains in her joints and had difficulties performing even the simplest of her daily chores.

However, when she started using Salmon Oil Plus, a superior quality omega 3 fish oil supplement, her condition miraculously improved! Oh, she said that she still feels some minor twinges every once in a while but it has not been as terrible as it was.

Of course, I was thrilled! I had been a volleyball player and a long distance runner. I enjoyed challenging myself to exceed my personal limits. And that’s why I developed this chronic pain and stiffness in my knees. In fact, it was becoming more and more serious that my doctor even told me that I’ll eventually need a knee surgery!

Dreading the idea of a knee surgery and not wanting to take any anti-inflammatory drugs, I searched everywhere for an alternative treatment for the dreaded pain. I shifted to a Mediterranean-style diet, ate lots of whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, eliminated red meat from my diet, and added pure extra virgin olive oil to the mix. Thankfully, my condition improved a little.

However, the final turning point happened when I started taking Salmon Oil Plus. To my surprise, the pain did go away, as if by magic! Now, I only feel some very minor pangs of pain when I push myself way too hard.

I’ll forever be grateful to Salmon Oil Plus for keeping me and my knees well. Why don’t you try it yourself and feel the difference? You’ll surely love it!

Okay, now, let’s talk about premenstrual syndrome or PMS – a female condition that has no known cause and no complete cure, either. Why are some women more susceptible to PMS than others? Can something be done about it? Well, let’s see…

PMS is no laughing matter. The emotional imbalance, depression, and anxiety associated with it can drive any woman, and everyone around her, nuts! And the sudden energy drain, achiness, and weight gain can be unpleasant enough to cause undue distress.

Hey, I’m no woman but believe me, I know how difficult it is for you during that time of the month! I’ve been with women all my life (I was raised by my mother, my two grandmothers and a number of aunts, my siblings are all females, and all my bosses have been women) so I know what I’m talking about. Add that to my background in health, fitness, and nutrition, and I guess I could qualify as an expert in these things!

Okay, to cut the long story short, here’s how you can prevent PMS from ruining your day:

Mind your diet. Eating a balanced and more nutritious diet is your key to keeping PMS at bay. You may have heard this a thousand times or more but I’ll say it again – eat your vegetables! They’ll surely do you a lot of good. And while you’re at it, load up on fresh fruits, fish, and whole grains, too.

Stay away from foods you love. Especially if those include processed and refined foods! No junk foods from now on, please. Sodas and caffeinated drinks should be taken off your list, too!

Drink lots of water. You need it.

Supplement, supplement, and supplement. You need all the help you can get. Sadly, not all the nutrients that you need can be supplied by your diet. That’s why you need to take a good quality supplement, especially one that is rich in omega 3 oils.

Aside from preventing PMS, omega 3 fish oils also help protect you from other discomforts brought about by your monthly period. Heavy menstrual flow, mood swings, cramping and breast tenderness become a thing of the past once you start using omega 3 fish oil supplements regularly!

But the list doesn’t end there. Supplementing your diet with good quality omega 3 fish oil may also help you sleep better, balance your glandular system, reduce risks of inflammation, and improve your libido! It may likewise protect you from endometriosis, HPV, and certain cancer (breast, cervical, ovarian and uterine). Now, isn’t that impressive enough?

Begin adopting these changes now and you’ll be a totally new woman in just a few months. But please don’t take my word for it – try it yourself and be amazed at your wonderful transformation!

Do you experience any recurrent burning or gritty sensations in your eyes? Are there times when you feel that you are becoming more and more sensitive to light? Do you experience blurry vision and eye redness, too? If you do, you may have what is known as the dry eye syndrome (DES).

DES can be very irritating – on both the physical and the emotional level. So, before it gets any worse, you better seek medical attention fast!

There is no way to prevent DES, at least that is what the traditional medical community thought. However, a recent study at the Harvard University proved this theory wrong. There is hope for people who suffer from DES!

As part of the Women’s Health Study (WHS), 32,470 women between the ages 45 and 84 were chosen as subjects for DES. Besides using self-reports of clinically diagnosed cases, the overall fatty acid intake of each subject was assessed using a validated food-frequency questionnaire. Adjustments were then made for demographic factors, hormone therapy and total fat intake.

Can you guess what the compiled data revealed? Researchers found that women who reported higher dietary intakes of omega 3 fatty acids from fish have a lower incidence of DES! Such findings were consistent with clinical observations and a biological understanding of how the body works. (AJCN, Vol. 82, No. 4, 887-893)

The moral of the story? Eat more oily fish such as salmon, mackerel, tuna, herring, sardines, and anchovies to see your way clearly through DES. Just two or more servings a week will give you some very satisfactory results! And by eating fish rich in omega-3 oils, you are also doing your heart, your brain, your joints, and your skin a favor!

However, if you find this course of action difficult to take, and you just can’t stand eating fish, you can always go for fish oil supplements. They are just as effective as the real thing. But be warned – not all fish oils are created equal.

If you don’t know oils, then you better know someone who really does. I’ve been studying these oils for years and would be happy to help you learn how to choose a safe, balanced and complete omega 3 fish oil supplement. Here’s and omega 3 comparison that will get you started.

Fish oil for your pooch? Nah, you must be kidding! Well, I’m not. Don’t you know that what’s good for you is good for your pets, too?

You must all know by now that I’m a raw diet advocate. After all, that’s what we would be having if not for the onslaught of processed and refined foods in today’s highly commercialized society. Come to think of it, that’s what our pets would be having, too, if they were left on their own in the wild. So, I put our lab/newfie on a raw food diet and boy, he’s incredibly healthy!

Modern pet foods are very much like the processed and refined foods for humans – full of hype but devoid of all the needed nutrients. Put some highly processed table scraps to the mix and you’ve got a surefire recipe for arthritis, cancer and heart disease! Would you like this to happen to your beloved pooch?

Despite all these gruesome details, there are some people who would not switch to a raw food diet, no matter what. However, they still want to keep their pets healthy and protected against such deadly diseases. Is there a way to achieve it?

Well, you’re in luck. There is a simple way to get around it – by supplementing your pet’s diet with good quality fish oil supplement. How does it help?

Well, it helps to keep your pet active. It’s not uncommon for large breed dogs to bear the pains of arthritis as they grow older. I’ve seen some dogs who can’t even get up to potty themselves without any assistance! It’s painful to watch.

So, where does fish oil come into the picture? Some scientists believe that the omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil block the enzyme that initiates inflammation. And without inflammation, your pets will absolutely be pain-free.

Omega 3 fatty acids may also lower the risk of cancer. Do you know that by eliminating or reducing the incidence of chronic inflammation, you are in effect lowering the risk of cancer? It’s true!

A lot of recent studies show that most types of cancer result from increased, chronic inflammation. And since fish oils help regulate the inflammatory response, the micro-inflammation that causes some cancers are actually prevented and in some cases, reversed.

Omega 3 keeps the heart healthy. Heart and circulatory problems are among the major concerns of most pet owners. And such problems are highly predictable, given the nature of modern pet foods we give them plus the table scraps we often pass onto them after dinner. So, don’t be surprised if your pets suffer the same artery-clogging and heart-damaging consequences we humans are most susceptible to!

Haven’t I said before that what’s good for you is good for your pet? We’ve been talking about how great fish oil is to your health, especially to your heart, and the same thing is true for your pets, too!

So, the next time you buy a bottle of Salmon Oil Plus for you and your family, get one for your pets, too! Aside from extending your pet’s life by years, supplementing your pet’s diet with this superior quality fish oil will also give them a much healthier, shinier coat of hair! Now, that’s not a bad side benefit, if you ask me!

Is there anything you can do but draw the blinds, turn out the lights and crawl into bed when you’re being assaulted by a nasty migraine headache? Well, chances are, that’s all you can do after puking and taking your pain relievers. Not quite a pretty sight, eh?

But people who deal with migraines on a regular basis developed their own coping mechanisms. They simply have to in order to cope up with the pain.

But don’t despair - there is still hope. You can control your migraine using a more natural but effective approach. Here are some simple suggestions that may work in keeping you migraine-free forever!

Ban the triggers. Most migraines seem to be triggered by factors such as glandular imbalances, stress or tension, various foods (chocolate, alcohol and caffeine) and additives (food coloring, MSG), and various medications such as birth control pills. Nobody knows for sure how these factors bring on a migraine episode. So, instead of wallowing in misery every time your migraine strikes, why not find out what your specific triggers are and try to eliminate them? That simple step alone will go a long way towards a migraine-free future!

Improve your diet. Sounds like a broken record? Well, pardon me, but if you really want to stay healthy and migraine-free, you need to have a good, natural whole food diet. Go for whole grain rice, wheat and soy. An please do not be deceived by white rice, enriched wheat, and GMO soy thinking that they offer the same nutrients. They simply don’t. They can even do more harm than good so beware!

Put the rainbow into your diet. Do you know that just by eating between 5 and 13 servings of colorful fruits and vegetables on a daily basis, you are indeed fortifying your body’s defenses against a lot of diseases? For best results, go for those that are rich in phytonutrients like carotenoids (carrots, sweet potatoes, kale, spinach), flavonoids (grapes, blueberries, nuts, herbs, spices, hot pepper) and cruciferous compounds (cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli).

Prefer lean. Low fat dairy products, eggs and lean meats, such as chicken and fish, complete your whole food diet. As much as possible, eat oily cold water fish like salmon, tuna, mackerel, sardines and anchovies. They are some of the richest sources of omega 3 fatty acids, which have been shown to dramatically decrease the pain and frequency of migraine headaches.

Supplement you diet. With what? With the best quality fish oil supplement there is – Salmon Oil Plus! Studies show that regular intake of omega 3 fish oils provides great relief from migraine headaches. And what’s more, some of my clients have even found that taking several capsules at the first indication of a migraine has actually minimized or prevented it from happening. Now, isn’t that reason enough to start taking Salmon Oil Plus now?

You have the power to take your life back from the clutches of migraine headaches. Give these natural alternatives a try. You might be in for the surprise of your life!

Do you have parents or grandparents aged 65 and above? Do they show signs of apparent forgetfulness? Be observant, for it might be an early symptom of Alzheimer’s disease.

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is often referred to as the “slow death of the mind”. This memory- robbing disease can be difficult to predict and diagnose at an early stage.

It’s true - we all seem to forget things at times. Even youngsters often do. We may fail to remember the names of persons we often meet, our neighbor’s telephone numbers, or some other important things we need to do. These things are considered normal but such behavior should be given attention if it becomes a daily occurrence.

So, how do you know that AD is already right on your doorsteps? What are the early warning signs that indicate the possible onslaught of Alzheimer’s disease? Here are some of them:

Memory problems. People suffering from early symptoms of AD may have difficulty remembering things that can affect their daily routines. They may start forgetting the use of ordinary tools and utensils, and may have difficulty in communicating. They may even forget where they live, and thus, often get lost. And would you believe that AD sufferers may likewise forget family relationships as well?

Poor judgment. If a person cannot give correct judgment to a very simple situation like using raincoats during sunny days, paying too much or too little for an article bought, putting dirty clothes on the dining table, and dirty dishes in the bedroom, it’s time to take notice.

Uncharacteristic changes in mood and behavior. People showing early symptoms of AD are usually moody, fearful, or suspicious. They lose interest in doing things they normally enjoyed doing. They sleep a lot, spend a lot of time in front of the TV, and refuse to do any household chores.

So who’s at risk? Most AD victims are seniors who are over age 85. Some other risk factors may include:

Genetics. If both of your parents were affected with AD, your risk of having the same disease is about five times higher than those whose parents were not affected by this debilitating mental disease.

Obesity. People who were obese and overweight during their middle ages have twice the risk of suffering from AD as compared to their leaner counterparts.

High blood pressure and high cholesterol. This can be a deadly mix. People with such conditions have six times the risk of developing AD in their later years.

Race. For unknown reasons, Blacks and Hispanics are more prone to suffer from AD than whites.

Alzheimer’s is simply not a normal part of life, even for aging people. It’s not right to assume or to expect that the elderly will naturally lost control of their mind as they grow older. AD can be prevented. But you’ve got to start doing something about it now, before it’s too late!

Eating fats can help you lose weight! Shall I believe this? It’s silly, isn’t it? But there’s truth to this and it’s backed by solid scientific evidence.

To help you understand this more clearly, let us consider some basic ideas about obesity first. Do you know the formula for gaining weight? It’s simple - eat more calories than you burn and you’ll gain weight. And relatively, if you eat less calories than you burn, you’ll lose weight.

Secondly, we eat all kinds of fats – everything from the good, the bad and the ugly. While some have unquestionable nutritional benefits to the body (such as omega 3 and omega 6 oils), the rest merely contains any nutritive values at all.

What’s worse is that these fats and oils not only encourage weight gain, they can even be hazardous to your health. These cancer-causing, artery-clogging and death-inducing fats include hydrogenated oils, trans-fatty acids, saturated fats, and processed vegetable oils. You don’t have any need for them so check them off your list before it’s too late!

That brings us back to the question, “What is the best fat to help us lose weight?”. The answer - omega 3 fatty acid! New research published in the Journal of Nutrition (vol. 136: 2965-2969) has shown that DHA helps stop the conversion or pre-fat cells (preadipocytes) to fat cells (adipocytes) by “killing” them.

Because of this anti-obesity effect of DHA, we have more reasons to add fish and omega 3 fish oil supplements into our diets. However, please be advised that this finding is still in the preliminary stages and a number of related research is still being made to establish the validity of the claim.

For the time being, it would be advisable to continue eating more omega 3 fish fat, and live a healthy and active lifestyle to lose more body fat. Here’s to your fit and healthy future ahead!

The 1980s saw the astronomical rise in the popularity of flaxseed oil – then touted as the safest, most effective source of omega 3 fatty acids. But have you ever wondered just how much of these claims are actually true?

Want to know the real score? Well, you might feel deceived but most of the things you hear about flaxseed oil are not backed up by scientific evidence. At best, all the information that you see circulating around is just plain, sly marketing tactic. They are devised with one aim in mind, and that is to make a profit.

Flaxseed oil manufacturers are a clever lot. They have expertly hidden the negative health aspects of their product and nearly succeeded in doing so. As a result, they have created multiple misconceptions that only get repeated by well meaning health writers and supplement retailers.

Okay, let’s try to shed some light into these half-truths about flaxseed oil.

First, manufacturers claim that flaxseed oil is an abundant plant source of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), a precursor of EPA and DHA. Well, it’s true. However, what the manufacturers failed to say is that the ALA needs to undergo a very complex conversion process in the body to be able to produce EPA and DHA. And just so you know, it is EPA and DHA that has some very important roles to play in keeping your body healthy.

And here’s some more - I will bet my bottom dollar that manufacturers and retailers of flaxseed oil don’t tell you that only about 0.05% of this ALA can even be converted into EPA and DHA. And that’s if your digestive tract is in perfect condition. However, most Americans don’t have it. Given this reality, how can flaxseed oil even make a tiny positive effect in keeping you healthy?

So, is there a better choice? Listen to what the scientists have to say.

In one study, flaxseed oil (promoted as an anti-inflammatory supplement) was shown to be far less effective in treating inflammation than omega 3 fish oils. Worse, it was even shown to increase the severity of inflammation!

A second study found that while omega 3 fish oils decreased the risk of prostate cancer, flaxseed oil actually increased the risk of such. And a third study pointed out that lignans, found abundantly in flaxseed oil, increased the risk of uterine fibroids. You can find all the details of these studies in the prestigious American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

On the other hand, most of the “studies” on flaxseed oil are merely anecdotal or have only been small test tube and animal studies. There have been no long-term, double-blinded, placebo-controlled, peer-reviewed human studies that found any nutritional benefits for flaxseed oil.

So, if I were you, I wouldn’t take any chances with flaxseed oil. Go for a high quality fish oil supplement with all 8 omega 3s instead. For best results, choose one that uses wild salmon from the cold, clean waters of the North Atlantic. Try Salmon Oil Plus, the only fish oil supplement I recommend. It’s clearly the only choice for me and my family. Make it yours, too!

Are you you telling me that there may be some mercury in my fish oil? Are you kidding me? This stuff is supposed to make me healthier!

Well, unfortunately, there is the very real threat of mercury, toxins, and even PCBs, in your fish oil!

So, how do you protect yourself from this unfortunate reality? By paying attention and doing your own research, that’s how! Get to know the source of your fish, the manufacturer’s practices, and their scientific quality control practices, if you can. It may also be very helpful to know the commitment of the company behind the product. Are they out to make a healthy difference or are they here just to make a healthy profit?

Choosing the best fish oil supplement that’s right for you is no easy task. It may be difficult, but realistically doable if you know where to start. Here are some tips that may help you achieve it:

Choose a company that only uses the freshest and highest quality omega 3 rich fish sources. Not all fish are created equal, especially when it comes to their omega-3 content. The most valuable sources of omega-3 oils include fish that live cold, open waters. This includes salmon, mackerel, herring, sardines, and anchovies. It will also be good to know that the company is not using garbage fish, diseased fish or fish graded for cat food and fertilizer in the production of their fish oil supplements.

Buy fish oils that lets you know its source. Wouldn’t it be nice to know that your fish oil supplement only uses health screened fish that are graded for human consumption? And how would you know for sure if it is not stated right there on the label?

Buy fish oil supplements that only use the oil from the flesh – not the organs. Oil pressed from the internal organs of the fish may contain heavy metals and toxins that can be harmful to your health. It also contains vitamins such as A and D that may be unsafe for certain people if taken in excessive amounts.

Now you know how you can be sure that you are getting only the safest, best quality omega 3 fish oil supplements. Ask the company who supplies your omega-3 fish oils if they follow these practices. If they give you some unfavorable answers or try to evade the question altogether, then you may want to look at Salmon Oil Plus. With Salmon Oil Plus, you can be sure that you only get what you need – no mysteries and no surprises included!
