About
I’m Kathy Quan RN BSN PHN. I have been a nurse for over thirty years. I earned my BSN and PHN (public health nurse) certification at California State University at Los Angeles. I hated hospital nursing, and after a few years put my PHN to work by entering the field of home health care.
In home health I have been a field nurse, nursing supervisor and a QI (quality improvement) specialist. Yes, I can recite ICD-9 codes and OASIS data in my sleep! Along with Title 22 and Medicare’s Conditions of Participation.
Several years ago, I developed a couple of Websites for home health professionals (Homehealth101.com and Housecalls-Online.com). In 2004, I became the last Guide to Nursing at About.com. In Nov. 2007, they closed this site in favor of a Health Careers site. I started my own Website TheNursingSite.com and this accompanying blog, The Nursing Site Blog to continue my work I started on About.com.
I have also written for Suite101.com since 2006.
I have written four books for Adams Media. Two have been published and the other two are scheduled to be published in Feb. 2009. The titles are:
- The Everything New Nurse Book (2006)
- The Everything Guide to Careers in Health Care (2007)
- The Everything Guide to Caring for Aging Parents (2009)
- 150 Tips and Tricks for New Nurses (2009)
I am thrilled to be able to have a mirror site for The Nursing Site Blog here at HealthCare.com.
If you have special requests for blogs or articles at The Nursing Site, Email me.
