Do you regularly consume large amounts of alcohol? If you do, you may be curious as to whether or not you have an alcohol abuse problem. While a large number of drinkers drink for social purposes only, there are many more who have alcohol abuse problems. To determine if you are one of those individuals and if you should seek help, you will want to examine a few of the many common alcoholism and alcohol abuse signs.
Perhaps the greatest sign that you may have a problem with alcohol is if you find yourself craving it. When you are unable to drink, such as in your car or at work, do you find yourself wanting a drink so bad that you can taste the alcohol in your mouth? Or, do you even take steps to get a drink, even just a few sips? If so, you may have an alcohol abuse problem.
Another alcohol abuse sign that you may want to be on the lookout for is if you drink alcohol to feel better about yourself. Whether you are doing so to improve your appearance or your self-esteem, you may have an alcohol abuse problem. Many with a problem cannot fully comprehend the fact that alcohol can actually have a negative effect on health, appearance, and self-esteem.
Another sign that you may have an alcohol abuse problem is if friends or family members approach you. Many do not realize that others are often the first to notice a problem. Whether you are always found with a drink in your hand or if those that you know notice your health, behavior, or your appearance changing for the worse, they may want to speak with you about your problem.
Alcohol abuse and alcoholism are dangerous problems, as they take away your control. Many are unable to help or stop themselves when it comes to alcohol consumption. Should you display any of the above mentioned symptoms, seek assistance immediately.
