12 Spiritual Laws: Recreating Your Life After Addiction
At the Mark Houston Recovery Center, we introduce residents to the 12 Spiritual Laws that Govern our Universe. Throughout the 3 month drug and alcohol recovery program, residents learn how these Laws have created the life they are currently living and how they can use these same Laws to recreate their lives in recovery.
The 12 Spiritual Laws
Law of Consent
Giving others permission to help us eliminate self-delusion.
Law of Caring
If you don’t care about yourself through your actions, the world cannot and will not care about you
Law of Cause and Effect
What I put out will return to me, ALWAYS
Law of Use
If we don’t use it we lose it
Law of Responsibility
Our Higher Power will not do for us what we are supposed to do
Law of Substitution
Turning away from negative self-talk
Law of Relaxation
In all mental work be relaxed, gentle and unhurried
Law of Subconscious Activity
As soon as our subconscious mind accepts an idea it will begin immediately to put it into effect, both good ideas and bad.
Law of Practice
Practice is the price of proficiency
Law of Forgiveness
In your heart, and to all
Law of Growth
What we think upon grows
Law of Intent
Set our intent and watch it manifest in our life through action
Over the next several weeks of blog posts, we’ll be explore each of these Spiritual Laws in greater detail and how embracing them can help recovering addicts find joy in a life of sobriety. I hope that you too will find ways to recreate a life of joy and abundance by coming to know and understand these 12 Spiritual Laws.
