Proof that Logic Is Powerless When Drowned by Alcohol

Alcohol lowers the inhibitions of its consumer, causing those who drink to regularly do some very dumb things. Here are some of the most ridiculous and most likely regrettable actions people have done while under the influence.

Fighting a Shark Barehanded

After drinking “copious amounts of vodka,” an Australian man, irritated at the shark that continue to chase his squid lures, decided to fight the beast with his bare hands. After climbing down the boat’s ladder, sneaking up on the shark and grabbing it, the man said that the shark began “thrashing around in the water but then he was starting to turn around and try to bite me and I thought ‘well, it’s amazing what vodka does’.” Luckily he lived to proclaim “I’m a bit of an idiot doing it.”

Dis’member’ming Oneself

It’s interesting how many men have actually dismembered themselves while under the influence of alcohol. One 30 year old man who was heavily intoxicated cut off his penis on a $2300 dare. Another man dismembered himself in an alcoholic rage after being refused by his wife.

Getting arrested for drunk driving in a lawnmower

Though she had enough sense to not to take her car to the bank, an intoxicated Peggy Sue Phillips decided it would be ok to drive her lawnmower straight across Arkansas’ highway 62 after dark without any lights. Luckily, the lawnmower was only clipped by a car while cutting across the highway and Peggy Sue was unharmed, but spent time in jail for driving while intoxicated.

These stories are off the wall and almost funny from an outsider’s point of view; but probably not so funny if you’re in one. Think you wouldn’t do something really stupid while drunk that would land you in the news? Neither did the charity founder, the Albion NY mayor, or this mother who all made the news within the last 24 hours of this post.
