Why You Should Be Careful With Spicy Food

Spicy food has garnered recent popularity amongst dieters for the fact that many said that eating spices helps you burn calories. What’s better than preparing your own spicy meal and adding to it more chili sauce and pepper until you feel you won’t survive the adrenaline rush when you eat it. The question would be: could spicy food have negative effects on your body? Let’s explore what spicy food can cause on the long run.

You’ll Earn Your Geographic tongue:

Genign migratory glottis, or more simply geographic tongue, is an allergic reaction on your tongue that forms patterns on your tongue - sort of like a map and hence the “geographic tongue”. Those patterns cause extreme discomfort and irritation and leave your tongue numb to any taste for almost a month. Although the condition is not permanent, but losing taste for a month could cause binge eating (since we tend to overeat when we can’t feel taste). Not to mention the discomfort you’ll feel every now and then.

Meet Gastritis:

Eating too much spicy food in one night or over the course of many days can cause a condition known as Gastritis, an inflammation in the stomach lining. How is this condition very dangerous to your stomach? It can cause ulcers in the future, and you don’t want that to happen.

Can You Say ‘Acid reflux’?

Acid reflux must be on the number one complaint of those eating spicy food. Why is acid reflux annoying? It almost burns you everytime it happens and you most probably won’t be able to sleep. Not to mention chronic acid reflux can cause cancer and erode teeth - since the acidity is very high. Who would want to try half of the remedies online about acid reflux if he can prevent it by cutting down his spicy portions.

You’ll Need a Lot of Mint:

Spicy foods usually contain ingredients that cause bad breath such as garlic, onions, and many spices. Who would want to have bad breath when meeting someone new by accident? Cut down spices or you’ll probably lose your chance for the sheer fact your breath wasn’t seductive.

Say Goodbye to a Goodnight Sleep:

How can you sleep when spicy food just makes your body temperature skyrocket? Our body is like an engine, it can’t actually sleep without cooling off, and eating spicy food does not help. Therefore, you’ll most likely notice that insomnia is your new best friend when consuming spicy meals.

Did You Feel That?

Your taste buds will never be the same after months of eating spicy meals. It’s no different than the body going numb after several slaps or hits on the ground. Your taste buds will most likely stop feeling simpler tastes that usually require delicate taste buds to feel, and most probably you’ll stop tasting the cheese in your food.

So those are the main reasons why you should not make spicy food a staple of your diet. You can always go out for Indian food or cook a spicy meal at home, but don’t overdo it and you’ll soon regret it.

I think Mr. Jenkns should do a little more research into the subject. Spicy food is EXTREMELY good for you! I think the problem is that each person needs to find what spicy foods work for them and their digestive system. For instance, I can’t eat red bell peppers but I can eat chinese cherry peppers. I think it takes too much from my body to digest the flesh of the larger bell pepper. I think its a shame that someone should say to limit the consumption of spicy food. It funny how poorly we americans are told to eat by people with little or no real credentials. Check out the wikipedia page on Capsaicin (or what makes food spicy) and I think the information speaks for itself - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capsaicin

stupid americans all they know if mcdonalds, acuaLLY STUPID NUTRIRITION EXPERT ARE GETTING PAID BY MCDONALDS TO SAY IT ACUALLY WE SHOULD EAT MCD ATLEAST ONCE A WEEK, JUST PICK UP THE BROSHURE AT MCDS
