The Strongest Case for John McCain’s Health Care Plan

Fortune Magazine, in March 2008, published what I believe to be as well-written, and well-rationalized case for McCain’s health care plan as I have read.  It’ll take a little time to read, but if you truly want to understand McCain’s position, you need to read through it.  It does not have any partisan slant, but speaks about it from an economic incentives perspective.  The writer even balances the case by naming the primary drawbacks of the McCain plan, namely: a) decreased pooling of risk and b) people not being able to be insured at affordable prices.  The writer also goes on to say that the democratic plan is more digestible from the electorate.  But there is a lot of thought placed into the McCain plan, and if it works as intended, it would serve its purposes of letting increased competition reduce overall health system costs.
