A Different Type of Core Strength
How much of your day is spent on automatic pilot?
For most of us, its unrealistic to expect that we can be mentally present in every single thing we do everyday. Set out to do one specific thing that requires your full attention: take a pilates class. Pilates requires your total attention mentally and physically. As soon as you stop thinking about or feeling what you’re doing, the springs snap back loudly, or your hips wobble. Basically, you lose sense of your core. In pilates, when you start to disengage mentally, you end up disengaging physically as well.
Once you plan for “YOU time”, you have given your whole day more of a purpose. You first have to remember your appointment, then the time leading up to your class is structured in a certain way so that you get to your class on time. After class, you’ll feel rejuvenated and ready to take on the rest of your day, maybe even the next couple days.
As soon as you stop thinking about or feeling what you’re doing, you lose sense of your core. That’s not just true in pilates, its true in daily life. Don’t lose sense of your purpose, don’t just live on autopilot. Keep your inner strength fit and flexible, so you can take on the day!
