What’s Between Your Feet and the Pavement
Most people I know who do pilates also like to include some type of cardio workout into their routine as well, since pilates is not a cardio workout. If you like to go running/jogging or walking, you need good sneakers designed for your specific sport.
Even if you go hiking, you really need hiking or trail running sneakers. I used to think I could just go hiking in old running sneakers… ouch. Especially on the way down hill, there was not enough ankle support or shock absorption so I’d really feel pain in my knees.
Everyone has their own personal preference as to what brand sneaker they like best because each brand shoe is built differently. I’ve always found it helpful to shop for sneakers at a good fitness store with nice sales people who really know the differences between types of sneakers. Paragon, in nyc, is an especially excellent place to shop, with really great sales people.

Did you know that you always need to by insoles for your sneakers, even your sneaks are brand new? Those floppy paper inserts in your new sneakers are literally not even designed to be worn while you exercise.
When you buy insoles, compare them to the inserts that came with your sneakers and you’ll see the difference! There are all types of insoles you can by, from $11 Dr. Scholl’s at Walmart to $300 customized insoles designed by an Orthopedist.
Care for your feet!
