Digging Deeply
Finding Joy
Lately, I’ve had several people question my choice of “happyfibrofamily” as a blog name and “happyfibro” as a handle. Comments have ranged from ”odd” to “Chinese restaurant-like”. Today, however, was the first time someone suggested it as an oxymoron.
While, that may be true for some, I prefer to think of ”happyfibro” as a personal goal. I figure if I can keep a smile on my face (some of the time anyway) while dealing with all of this, then I will be able to stay motivated to find answers and be well. I really believe in finding small joys in my life so that I can be “happy” most of the time, even if I have to be in pain while enjoying them.
A few of the small joys in my life are daily family adventures, listening to my children get along with one another, eating food outside of my home where someone else cooks and cleans up, reading and discussing good literature, membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and catching up with my husband and good friends. When I think about those joys, I realize that I am very blessed and that I have a good life, in spite of my fibromyalgia. Dig deep and think, what are some of your small joys?
