Game Day Urgency

"I don’t care what your business is– whether you’re running a company or a classroom or a Boy Scout troop: You need to find a way to instill GAME DAY URGENCY IN EVERYTHING YOU DO.

Because without it, every day is just like every other day, everyone looses interest and then they lose focus.  It kills morale, productivity, quality– you name it, boredom kills it.  And then they’re not getting anything worthwhile done."

This quotation from Bo Schembechler was found in Bo Schembechler and John U. Bacon’s book, "Bo’s Lasting Lessons".   Everything the University of Michigan football team did throughout the year was focusing on the 11 football games.  GAME DAY URGENCY was more than having urgency at the time of the game.  GAME DAY URGENCY was experienced every day throughout the year in preparation for the games.

As I read about this topic, I realized that we also need to find a way to instill SELF-ACTUALIZATION URGENCY IN EVERYTHING WE DO.

Self-actualization urgency means focusing on our goals and dreams on a daily basis throughout the year.

Self-actualization urgency means taking care of ourselves in all situations throughout each day of the year.  It means making a commitment to actualize ourselves in order to reach our potential or achieve our dreams.

Too often self-actualization or learning to take care of ourselves becomes lost on our priority list.  We focus on achieving other people’s goals and we focus on pleasing others.  Doing what is best for ourselves is denied, ignored, forgotten or depreciated on a daily basis.

We fail to realize the necessity and urgency for making decisions that are best for ourselves on a daily basis throughout the year.

Do you have a sense of urgency in taking care of yourself and achieving your goals?  Could you work hard and commit to actualizing your goals and dreams?  If this is not the time for you to actualize yourself on a daily basis with a sense of urgency, when will it be?

I love this line “We fail to realize the necessity and urgency for making decisions that are best for ourselves on a daily basis throughout the year.”

This is very true, I am still working on this myself.
