My Trainer Changed My Entire Mindset
Former University of Michigan linebacker and Philadelphia Eagle’s linebacker, Dhani Jones, discussed the need for men to take care of their mind, body and soul.
According to his website, dhani55, Dhani means "thinking man" in the Hindi language and his middle name, Makalani means "skilled in writing" in the Polynesian language. He is a Renaissance man. He loves poetry, classical music, oil painting, woodworking and photography. His favorite quote is "Seize the Day."
He is extremely well-qualified to give men tips about being a man.
Zoya Abdikulova wrote about the Philadelphia Eagle’s speech in The Daily Pennsylvanian.
Jones spoke passionately about the perception of men in the United States. The perception that men need to be tough could actually threaten their lives. He explained:
"If we fall, we have to get back up. If we are sick, we have to deal with it. If we get hurt, we have to keep going," Jones said. "The truth is, however, that there are many of us who are suffering and struggling every single day."
Men suffering and struggling is what Dave calls The Disquiet In Men. He recently wrote about The High Cost of Not Engaging Our Disquiet on men and their families.
Dhani was very grateful for his trainer.
"My trainer changed my entire mindset about health and fitness," said Jones. "He taught me about the three most important and necessary aspects of my life that I need to feed: my mind, my body and my soul."
Reading was given as an example for feeding the mind. Applying a mental fitness program is a challenging way to feed the mind.
Eating the right foods is a way to feed the body according to Dhani. Instead of trash talking, he urged men to talk about real issues and their feelings as a way of feeding their soul.
He concluded his speech by showing a video of a 91-year-old man running a 100 yard dash and 17 seconds. This man works out five times a week.
Dhani’s advice is: "Don’t let death chase you. Instead, chase life!"
It is never too late to start feeding your mind, body and soul so you can chase life!
