wanderings about and yes, practice
Normally I read other cybershalamate's blogs in the wee hours, but this morning, an update on Ashtanga News had me surfing across a few shala websites. So I read that Teacher Stacy Lee in Bend, Oregon achieved authorization. Blessings to her. I noticed that her shala has two authorized teachers also, David & Andrea Miliotis. They very generously had beautiful pictures of 3rd Series poses interpreted by David, as in this Viswamitrasana. I'd like to get that much extension in my legs. Is Bend, Oregon a university town? A mini Silicon Valley? Cool that they have such great teachers.

(What is it with my site advisor software that think that most yoga asana renditions are not correct content? Who writes this software? Many asanas are considered deleterious to my moral fibre !@#)
In another city I came across a shala that had on the menu, er, on the schedule, "hot vinyasa express." I imagine you belly up to the counter in your later-day lulemons and say, "I'll have a "hot vinyasa express, please" as if ordering a panini.
In my home practiced I "researched the first five poses of Third Series. Chakorasana, how I love thee. I got the leg safely esconced behind the head, got aloft and in in ten seconds, "pop goes the weasel" - out went the leg. Ok, tomorrow is another day; see you at the mat tomorrow, dearest.
When I learned 2nd series, I was given substitutions when I could not do a pose. For Dwi Pada I entertained dead bugs poses until I was able to do the pose correctly. I understand (intellectually) the method the poses are given, but I my "research" (the only word I'm allowed to use) deep into (gasp!) third series poses. It's the only way I can get my body to get ready, by simulation, of these poses. With a bow of my head chakra to those ashtangis that do these poses gracefully in the community of a shala. I'll do them tease-fully at home, until in the future, a teacher will appear and polish my practice.
